Introduction to Kids Yoga
The World is already saturated with information and it’s easy for our kids to get overloaded. I recommend a 15-20 minute session for kids age 5 and up. This can be gradually increased to half an hour or more for older children. Yoga also helps promote concentration and encourages development of gross motor skills as balance and coordination. Starting from simple animal postures to just meditating, our children can enter the world and establish a body-mind-spirit connection.
Teaching Hindi to Your Kids
We at NamasteKidz want each parent to play an active role in teaching their kids Hindi. Each class will introduce new words, music and stories in Hindi. We will provide you with worksheets and material that you can use at home to practice what we learned in class. The more you practice with your kids the better they will become at speaking Hindi. The more practice they have the more confidence each child will have while speaking Hindi at home.
Learning Through Music
The benefits of music education are truly outstanding. Children who are enrolled in music classes for kids are more likely to excel in both the intellectual and social spheres. The rewards of music for children include the recognition of patterns, problem solving and abstract reasoning. Also, music education can improve a child’s capacity to learn math and science. Writing and literacy skills are another benefit, as are the ability to develop self-control and discipline. It is clear that music classes for babies, toddlers and kids of all ages can benefit children in many ways, helping them grow into self-assured adults.
Learning a Second Language
Research also proves that young children who learn a language have superior reading, writing, analytical and social skills, as well as more extensive vocabularies than their monolingual peers. Early foreign language acquisition is no longer considered a luxury. It materially contributes to a young child’s cognitive development and also gives him an advantage in the future of our increasingly global marketplace. According to Dr. Laura-Ann Petitto of Dartmouth College, children who have been exposed early to a second language possess an overall "cognitive edge." Numerous studies have also linked language education to higher scores on many standardized tests. We have seen three factors repeated time and again in the advice and the research surrounding second language learning— immersion, consistency and an early start. These three aspects of the language—learning process are key components for your child to secure a strong foundation for acquiring a second language and grow into it enjoyably and productively.
Cultural Immersion
This class is focused on immersing your child in the rich Indian culture. Each week the topics shift from geography, historical background, national symbols, interesting facts and important people, festivals, famous monuments, art, music and dance of India. Allowing your child to feel part of his/her culture will create the confidence of knowing where they are from, who they are as individuals and their place in the world.
